Winton B. Wedderburn

My name is Winton (some people call me Fuzi). I’m a Public Health professional by education, an independent researcher to pay the bills and an entrepreneur to one day be economically free! I don’t know if anyone ever told you this, but working for someone these days is not in your best interest. I’m a dad to two super cool, amazingly brilliant kids and had the good fortune to marry my best friend. I’ve called Brooklyn, NYC my home for 12 years and if all goes as planned I’ll be here for a good long time.

I’m doing this project to, first and foremost, help Black and minority groups learn about how money and the economy works. Now, I’m not a pro, but I know more than the average person and will learn a lot more along the way. The goal here is to research and present ways of continuing to move the needle forward for our community no matter what corrupt, anti-everything-that-isn’t-me demagogue is in office. It won’t be easy and we’ll have to shed a lot of false beliefs and stereotypes others have of us while embracing then changing those we hold against ourselves.

Why am I doing this? Well, having spent the last year or more angrily posting on social media about the latest plight to befall our community, witnessing two of the most out-of-touch candidates to ever run for office and having the most morally corrupt human in America claim the Presidency, I couldn’t take it anymore. I needed to use what little voice/power I had to do something…anything!

Why money and economics and not race and equality? To me, race and equality issues have existed forever and will continue to exist as long as there’s at least one group of people who think they’re better than another group of people. How you treat one another completely depends on who has the bigger share of resources and power. And in America that is not us.

I hope you’ll join me in supporting the #Blaxit Life Project by making a purchase in the #Blaxit Life store. I hope to have this project funded solely by these products in the beginning and apply for grant funding in the coming months. Questions or comments? Send me a message from the form on the homepage.

Forward. Always.
